Mayor
My Name is Jake Lanes, and I am the Mayor of Emerado, ND. I have been an active member of the Emerado Community for 11 years serving in several capacities. I started my career in law enforcement here in Emerado as a deputy. I now serve as an investigator in Grand Forks County, and as the Fire Chief for the Emerado Volunteer Fire Department.
As Mayor, I work with an open mind. It is my belief that a well-informed citizen with a good idea makes my job easier. It is also my belief that a good mayor seeks good ideas from the people they serve. City leaders need to be visible in our community, and work for our citizens to grow our City. My focus is on responsibilities, not politics.
I’m a nuts and bolts kind of guy; plowed roads and clean neighborhoods for example. One thing I won’t do is make unrealistic promises. There is no magic to being a good mayor, but as a community as a whole, maybe we can make a little magic happen!
