County 3/ E. Emery Ave Project

Beginning Monday, September 16th, Grand Forks County, in conjunction with Schmitz Inc will be starting culvert project at the intersection of Grand Forks County Road 3 and East Emery Ave in Emerado, ND. The project will consist of removal and disposal of the existing wood culvert extensions currently in place. This will prepare the location for Schmitz Inc. to install two 5 feet by 5-foot precast concrete culvert extensions and installation of a 60" smooth wall steel pipe inside the existing 72"CPM. Schmitz Inc will also install two 8 feet by 8-foot precast concrete box culvert extensions and compact the foundation. To complete this project, channel bottom excavation will be required, meaning the removal of materials from the location which could increase capacity and possibly help alleviate flooding or alternately, stagnation and sediment buildup in the channel.
The work should be completed by November 1st, 2024, according to the bid paperwork, and traffic impact should be minimal, yet may be present. Please reduce your speed as you travel through the construction zone for the safety of the workers, as well as your own.
Please keep in mind that the City of Emerado streets are still NO LOADED TRUCK zones, and trucks hauling to the Emerado Farmers Elevator may need to detour around the City.
