3rd Annual Trunk or Treat Event
10/9/2024
With Halloween just right around the corner, our kiddos are probably gearing up for their trick-or-treating! Did you know Emerado has an alternative way to do that Halloween activity?
It’s called TRUNK OR TREAT, which is usually a community-wide effort. And this Halloween will be Emerado's 3rd Annual trunk or treat event, hosted by the Emerado Volunteer Fire Departmment, in conjuction with the Emerado Park Board's Annual Halloween Party at the Community Center!
During trunk-or-treat events, adults decorate the back of their cars for Halloween, load up on candy and watch the fun begin while kids "trick-or-treat" from car to car. It's more fun than it sounds, trust me! Sometimes, kids come by the dozens, fully dressed in Halloween costumes and holding out bags (or plastic pumpkins) for treats. In turn, the adults get to socialize and be creative while seeing all the cute and scary costumes. When the big night comes, cars are given specific spots to line up in. They will form an area where the kids can safely run around and beg for candy. In Emerado, our Main Street becomes the spooky spot to be! Some of the car decorations and displays have been quite elaborate, requiring a lot time to setup in advance, with the volunteers even dressing up! Now, no one is saying you need to go all out, but hey, its for the kids, right??? When the kids do arrive, the real fun begins. They'll usually be told to go in a certain order. When they arrive at your car, they'll say "trick or treat!" and collect their candy just like at houses on Halloween night! Here, it is best to start at City Hall, and work your way towards the Community Center, where the Park Board will be serving pizza and carmeled apples, a costume contest, and plenty of games to play, candy and photos!
